George Dillon is an award-winning actor and director, best known for his seven solo shows which have toured extensively in the UK and internationally. He has also performed at the Royal National Theatre, and in repertory and touring theatre.


George Dillon first acted in a student production of East by Steven Berkoff while studying English & Philosophy at Manchester University. He changed course to do Drama, performed in 24 student productions, including five directed by Laurence Boswell and one by Ben Elton, and won a Best Supporting Actor Award at the National Student Drama Festival.

After graduating, George Dillon formed No Alternative Theatre Company with Denise Evans and over the next three years he toured in Berkoff’s plays Decadence and Greek before working with Steven Berkoff appearing in Sink The Belgrano! at the Half Moon and Mermaid Theatres and in Salomé at the Royal National Theatre and in the West End.

Since 1990 Dillon has created seven acclaimed solo shows, giving over 900 performances, touring extensively throughout the UK and internationally: Judgement, Stunning the Punters (& Other Stories), Hell & Other Tales, The Remembrance of Edgar Allan Poe, Graft – Tales of an Actor, The Gospel of Matthew and The Man Who Was Hamlet. He won a Herald Angel Award for Graft and has twice been nominated for The Stage Best Actor Award at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Further theatre roles include: Gregor Samsa in Metamorphosis (Royal National Theatre); Long in The Hairy Ape (Bristol Old Vic); Hamlet in Hamlet (touring); Johnny Rotten in Pistols (Hanover Productions); Victor Frankenstein in Frankenstein (York Theatre Royal); Charlie Chaplin in The Secret Life of Charlie Chaplin (Fireraisers); Man/Director in Catastrophe (Komedia Productions); Jason/Creon/Aegeus in Medea (Company:Collisions); John Philip Kemble in Kemble’s Riot (Zincbar Productions) and Jonathan Fluke in Black Curtain (Blank Productions).
